This policy explains what Flow’s Blog collects when you visit theflowsyntax.com, why, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, and it describes what the site actually does — not a generic template.

Reading the site

You can read every tutorial on this site without an account and without giving us anything.

When you open a lesson, we record that the page was viewed. To count readers rather than page refreshes, your IP address and browser user-agent are combined and run through a one-way hash. The hash is stored; your IP address is not. It cannot be reversed back into an IP, and it is used only to avoid counting the same reader twice in 24 hours.

We also store a two-letter country code for each view (for example PK or US), supplied by our CDN. That is the only location data kept. It is far too coarse to identify anyone.

Accounts, comments and email

If you create an account we store your name, email address and a hashed password. Passwords are never stored in readable form and cannot be recovered by us — only reset.

Comments you post are public, along with the name on your account. If you subscribe to updates we store your email address so we can send them, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.

Messages sent through the contact form reach us by email so we can reply.

Cookies

The site sets a session cookie when you log in. It is what keeps you logged in as you move between pages. Log out and it is discarded.

Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics, described below.

There are no advertising cookies on this site today. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ad is served.

Services we rely on

A few third parties necessarily see some data when you visit:

• Cloudflare sits in front of the site and handles security and delivery, so it processes your request including your IP address.
• Google Analytics tells us roughly how many people visit, from which countries, and which pages they read.
• Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools show us which search queries lead here. They report totals, never individuals.
• Gmail SMTP delivers account and notification emails.

Each of these has its own privacy policy, and none of them receives your comments, your password, or anything you type into the site.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not build profiles of readers, and we do not track you across other websites.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it, or to unsubscribe you from emails. Email us and we will do it. Browser settings and analytics opt-out tools let you block the cookies described above; the tutorials work perfectly well without them.

Children

This site is aimed at people learning to code and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes — new tracking, or advertising — will be announced on the site, not slipped in quietly.
